Being fifty is alright, but a year or so ago I was getting a bit concerned. While drying my hair with my hand held hair dryer, my hands would go numb and tingle. I noticed this happening more and more often. Activities that required my hands to be in certain positions would cause the numbness to start. This was very troubling as I play piano for my church and it is also a paid position that helps with my expenses… I talked to my physician’s assistant while on my next visit and told her about my symptoms. She asked some questions and looked at my wrists. Advising that it was most likely carpal tunnel syndrome, her advice was that if it got too bad, I would need some x-rays and then probably surgery. This was not something that I wanted to do. My sister had known Coach and had told him about my problem. The coach explained that my problem was due to the fact that the blood was not circulating properly. He proceeded to teach me a series of stretching, starting with my neck and going all the way down through my shoulders, arms, wrists, and fingers. I noticed some relief that some evening. I continued the exercises and within a few days had a remarkable difference in my hands. As long as I keep up the stretching, I enjoy no problems. Occasionally, I will get busy and forget to stretch. Whenever I start feeling that numbness, all I need to do is get back to stretching and things go back to normal. I would definitely recommend Robert Selby contribution to be considered.
